2022 Election Results – a Clean Sweep!

Wow! Arguably our best election outcome ever.

Thanks to our outstanding campaign team led by Jace Cotton, our generous donors, our volunteers, and our voters. You all helped ensure that candidate quality, integrity, and facts prevailed this election.

We now hold all six legislative seats from Whatcom County (LD 40 + LD 42)!

  • Sharon Shewmake was elected 42nd L.D. State Senator – flipping a seat Republicans have held for two decades!

  • Alicia Rule coasted to her second term as 42nd L.D. State Representative Position 1.

  • Joe Timmons was elected 42nd L.D. State Representative Position 2, filling a seat that Shewmake vacated to run for state senate.

  • Debra Lekanoff comfortably won re-election in her race for 40th L.D. State Representative Position 1.

  • Alex Ramel comfortably won reelection in his race for 40th L.D. State Representative Position 2.

  • Rick Larsen won reelection to the new U.S. House of Representatives District 2, which now includes all of Whatcom County.

  • Whatcom Democrats Second Vice Chair Jaime Arnett was elected District 3 Commissioner to the Public Utility District, securing total Democratic control of Whatcom County’s PUD.

  • Proposition 5, The Healthy Children’s Fund (YES for KIDS!), passed by narrow margins after our team of volunteers and organizers worked hard to cure ballots.
